The prototype is designed to travel at a breathtaking speed of 620km per hour, creating a new record for on-land transportation, and with a package of home-developed innovations applied, including its all-CFRP lightweight body, low air-resistance locomotive design, and the leading-edge High-temperature Super-conducting Maglev Technology (HSMT).

HSMT was firstly developed by Southwest Jiaotong University, which is believed to be stable in performance, low-cost in operation, energy-saving, chemical-free and noise-free, allowing it to be an ideal way of future transportation.

Researches said evacuated tube technologies will be introduced in the future to further boost the travel speed up to 1,000km per hour.

Along with the prototype, a pilot railroad was unveiled concurrently to test its performance.
